Upgrade of an "EL" Laser
Among services offered by Ecktronics Corporation are the repair and/or upgrading of older HeNe gas plasma lasers. Usually, when a plasma tube or transformer in an older laser fails, it is more cost-effective to upgrade the unit, than to attempt a repair. As can be seen in the above photo, the working parts of an upgraded laser (top) are smaller and more space-efficient than the original components. Another benefit is there is less heat generated internally. A typical conversion costs $495. A calibration alone is $45.
The light output of a laser diode (shown above) is of comparable brightness and wavelength to that of a HeNe gas plasma laser...while consuming less power.
