The newest laser alignment product on the market today is the Ecktronics Corporation EL 2000 (shown above in the upright position). The EL 2000 is the result of years of development and incorporates the latest laser diode technology. The EL 2000 features two independent, battery powered lasers that project horizontal and vertical lines, and where the lines cross equals a dot. The user also has the choice of a horizontal line by itself or vertical line by itself. The horizontal beam lies 3-1/2 inches (89 mm) above the reference tube.
With a color in the 620-680 nanometer range, these high-efficiency lasers are visible even in bright lighting conditions. They also draw very little power for long battery life and minimal heat generation.

As depicted above, the EL 2000 horizontal line sits 2 mm above the reference tube. This position is used to check datum or twist beneath the vehicle.

This laser has a vertical line that is basically designed to work on the Kansas Jack "Quick Check" System.
